A little bit about who we are and where we've been
Virginia has 25 years of healthcare experience spanning obstetrics and gynecology, preventive medicine, public health, biomedical and health services research, clinical operations, healthcare finance, product development and healthcare IT. Nearly 15 of those years have been spent in physician executive positions within organizations such as Henry Ford Health System, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Colorado Access, McKesson Health Solutions and Healthways.
Virginia’s expertise and passions overlap within the realms of access to care, healthcare sustainability, circadian rhythm physiology, emergent dynamics and disruptive innovation.
In 2009, she combined her experience and passions to launch AuraViva based in Boulder, Colorado. AuraViva is dedicated to increasing the accessibility and effectiveness of health promotion through integrating wireless biosensors and mobile applications with circadian rhythm analytics and feedback for consumers and healthcare professionals.
Dr. Gurley received her BA from Reed College and her MD (alpha omega alpha) from University of California, Davis, School of Medicine. She completed her internship in Obstetrics and Gynecology at George Washington University and both her MPH (alpha omega delta) and Preventive Medicine and Public Health residency at Johns Hopkins University.
LeAnna, also known as TheHealthMaven online, is a 30-year market and business development executive with expertise in developing and executing go-to-market strategies, managing outpatient centers into profitability, implementing social media strategies, public relations, government relations, and sales leadership in the commercial, Medicare and Medicaid segments of the wellness, population health and integrated delivery system industry. Lea is passionate about innovation and focused on disruptive products and technologies that advance consumer wellness.
When Lea is not writing and promoting the importance of integrating work and life for AuraViva, she is the editor of Innovation Excellence, for the healthcare vertical, consults with CryerHealth, a prestigious consumer-centric public relations firm in Washington DC, and currently the chair of the Social Media committee for Healthcare Businesswomens Association, Mid-Atlantic chapter. Lea has been responsible for driving unprecedented growth in healthcare startup and established companies.
She completed her Baccalaureate degree in Nursing at Purdue University and Masters in Business at Averett University in Virginia.
